After close friends recommended Scrandos in Hoylake to us for weeks, we finally visited on a Friday night after the school run, and we were impressed! So here’s my review of Scrandos in Hoylake.

Having a 6-year-old and choosing a place to eat out is a challenge! Especially on a Friday when he’s tired after a week of school. A close friend had been recommending Scrandos to us for weeks, so we decided to try it, and we were not disappointed. Here’s what we thought of Scrandos in Hoylake.
A great family-friendly restaurant
When we walked in, the staff quickly seated us and were very friendly. The restaurant has an American diner feel, which my son loved. The ceiling was covered in film, TV, and music posters, which was a fun touch.
My first impression of the menu was the price—it’s reasonable! I’m forever trying to find decent yet affordable places when taking my son out to eat because he’s so hit-and-miss about whether he will finish a meal. I’m sure many parents can relate. We ordered our drinks and the kid’s milkshake, which was just £2.00. When it arrived, it was an excellent milkshake with cream and sauce. My little one was made up; he felt immensely grown up.
While waiting for our food, our waiter overheard us chatting about Ghostbusters; to our surprise, he put on the Ghostbuster song a few minutes later! Such a little thing like that made my son so happy. It made his night. They often focus on events for children, which is excellent to know if you live nearby and have little ones.
The food
But let’s get to why we go to restaurants – the food! The menu at Scrando’s was varied and appealing, with plenty of options for both meat-eaters and vegetarians alike. Scrandos offers a range of fast food items, including burgers, chicken wings, hot dogs, loaded fries, and milkshakes. There are lots of burgers to choose from.
I went for the Chicken Gyros wrap, which was huge! It was full of salad and such a generous portion. My partner chose the cajun chicken burger, which he enjoyed. My son went for the kid’s mac and cheese with onion rings on the side. We were impressed with the quality of the food. We shared a couple of desserts between us and left full after a lovely, relaxed evening.

If you don’t fancy dining in but want to try their food, they also provide food to take away, and you can order online, which is convenient if you live locally.
The service at Scrando’s was fantastic. Our server was friendly and attentive without being overbearing. They were happy to answer any questions we had about the menu, point out offers to us, and make us feel very welcome. Overall, I highly recommend Scrando’s for anyone looking for a delicious meal in a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere. Whether you’re a local or just passing through Hoylake, add Scrando’s to your list of must-visit restaurants.
