I have been eating and drinking my way around Hoylake, and I visited one of Hoylake’s newer dining spots. Here’s my review of Arthur’s of Hoylake.
Wine and small plates are my favourite combo. I was excited to visit Arthur’s of Hoylake, one of Hoylake’s newest little gems! Arthur’s offers a wide variety of wines, artisanal beers, and bespoke cocktails, all accompanied by great food. The terrace area is perfect for unwinding and watching the world go by while sipping your favourite drink. Their upstairs space is also an ideal setting to host events. Here’s my review of Arthur’s of Hoylake.
Visiting Arthur’s of Hoylake for brunch
I first visited Arthur’s on a Saturday morning to try out their brunch menu. The staff were so friendly and welcoming, and the restaurant was busy but had a relaxed atmosphere.
The brunch menu has plenty of breakfast favourites, and I went for Arthur’s Benedict, which was poached eggs, Hollandaise sauce, and a choice of bacon, black pudding, or smoked salmon. I went for the bacon; it was served quickly, fresh and tasty. It set me up for a Winter beach walk!
My partner ordered the scrambled egg and smoked salmon croissant. It was a freshly baked croissant filled with creamy scrambled eggs and topped with Scottish smoked salmon. It was delicious!
Arthur’s is dog-friendly, so the brunch menu is perfect if you pop in before or after a weekend dog walk. The coffee is fantastic if you need a little pick-me-up.
Visiting Arthur’s of Hoylake in the evening
I love nothing more than wine and small plates. After we had brunch at Arthur’s, I wanted to visit again to try a few of the small plates on the menu. We visited on a Saturday evening. The restaurant was busy, but the staff found us some space and were really accommodating.
Our waiter helped me choose a wine, and we went for a little (random) selection of small plates that we both wanted to try. We opted for a variety of small plates, including mini scouse with pickled red cabbage, salt and pepper chicken tossed in garlic butter and Chinese spices with sweet chilli sauce, Moroccan spiced hummus, harissa, pumpkin seeds and pitta, and a side of skin on fries with parmesan, truffle oil, garlic mayo.
Like the brunch, everything came out fresh, hot and delicious! We were heading to a local open mic night afterwards, and this was the perfect place to begin our night.
Arthurs also offer a Sunday roast menu, which has been getting fantastic reviews, sandwiches, pizzas, charcuterie, mezze boards and a range of desserts. There are vegan and vegetarian options, and the pizzas can be ordered with gluten-free pizza bases.
They even feature a lovely event space perfect for hosting celebrations. You can book this area for private hire by contacting them directly.
